My name is Ben Schifman. I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. I lived in Tucson until 2003 when I moved to Portland, Oregon to attend Lewis & Clark College (L&C). At L&C I doubled majored in Political Science and Environmental Studies and wrote my senior theses on framing effects, risk perception and global climate change. After graduating from L&C, I worked for Portland General Electric as a clerk, for Powerscore as a LSAT instructor, and for L&C as a debate coach.

In 2008, I moved to New York City to begin law school at Columbia University. I spent summer 2009 back in Portland, working for Portland's Metropolitan Public Defender. After finishing my second year at Columbia, I spent the summer of 2010 in Washington, DC working for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in the Environment and Natural Resources Division (ENRD), through the Summer Law Intern Program (SLIP). I have recently graduated from Columbia, and will be returning to work at DOJ ENRD through the Honors Program in September 2011.
